Today's quick write...The pigeon and the spy......

The kids asked me to post a video we watched to inspire our writing today. Take a look and see how 3 different students interpreted the movie and used their description symbols (look, see, feel, say, smell etc). The writing feature we targeted was to try and use 'onomatopoeia' this is a word that sounds like the action it describes......

Pigeon v the Man by JD

One day Walter was going to a beach, he sat down and then the pigeon smelt  his donut. The man gave him a piece but he didn't get it and the pigeon went crazy! The pigeon went into the mans briefcase and he felt like 'WOW'! The pigeon tasted the crumbs and he could hear the foot steps tip tap of people on the street. He could see so many buttons.......

The Pigeon and the Suitcase by Harriet

While I was inside the suitcase I could see the crumbs from the donut. I could feel the buttons, I could see the buttons. I could hear the spy screaming "aaaaaaaaaaah" I went 'bbbrrrrrrrrrr - bbbrrrrrrrr'.

The Spy and the Pigeon by Scarlett MH

One sunny day a spy was sitting on a park bench eating a donut when he could see a pigeon . The pigeon was a very silly pigeon though. I think he could smell the donut so the spy threw him a piece of donut. It went behind him and he turned back again. The pigeon fell backwards into the briefcase. He pushed all of the buttons and some lasers came out. You could hear the pigeon going 'brrrrrrr' and the lasers going 'phew' 'phew'

Tuatara Sculptures!

We had fun making Tuatara Sculptures for our habitat dioramas today. They were hard because we had to follow difficult instructions on how to make a 4 legged animal out of one piece of clay ( we couldn't stick stuff on!). I'm proud of how well the kids followed the instructions!

A sneak preview of Salsa lessons!

Check out our fist Salsa lesson!

The dance lessons are great because it makes me a little bit better at dancing. It teaches me I can do anything because when I was little (like 7) I couldn’t do all the steps. Now I can do all the steps. I like the hip hop better because my cousin does hip hop and he teaches me too. The salsa is good but the holding hands is a little bit gross!

The dance lessons are fantastic because I like the Salsa steps. They are quite easy to learn. I think that it would be good to perform them and keep doing them in class. The hip hop is fantastic too. I like the teachers because they are teaching me knew stuff different from last time we did dance.

Our Chief Tuatara Photographer

Polly Hyde did an awesome job of taking all of the Tuatara photos yesterday, but the camera went flat before her turn!! Luckily Mr T snapped a photo of her and sent it through so here it is!

"I thought is was really really cool to see a real tuatara and my brother is sooooo jealous because he loves dinosaurs. I learnt a lot of facts about tuataras and that you shouldn't be scared of reptiles if you know how to handle them.I thought it might be a hard skinned reptile, but it was actually a bit squishy and weird. It was also cold, not freezing cold like I imagined it would be but a little bit cold. At first I was a bit frightened but the littlest kids in our class were holding it so I just decided to give it a go because I didn't want to be a 'wuss'."
